Our guest today wants to reform education to support neurodiverse students better. She believes empowering individuals to learn about their unique intelligence will change their lives. Today's guest is Simran Deol, a student at Harvard University who graduated with a Master's Degree in Human Development & Education and has spent many years working in Developmental and Educational Psychology. Before attending Harvard, Simran was a struggling student, failing school. She barely graduated high school and was put on academic probation during undergrad. When she was 19, she was diagnosed with Specific Learning Disorder in reading, writing, math, and ADHD. After this significant life change, she understood how her brain worked and got her needed support to turn her life around.Since then, she has been working on a series of neurodiversity awareness projects, such as creating her organization, "The Abstract Genius", speaking on podcasts and conferences and writing articles.
