Episode #16: Habits: The good, the bad, the in-between

Act to Live - Un podcast de Scott Palasik & Jaime Michise

Summary: On this episode of the ACT to Live podcast, Scott and Jaime talk about habits. The word is so commonly used; and yet, what does it actually mean? Are habits good? Bad? Somewhere in-between? Scott talks about some interesting information from a book he’s currently reading - our brain cannot actually tell the difference between a good and bad habit; instead it is simply trying to find the most efficient way to act (Duhigg, 2014). Jaime and Scott then talk about the process of forming a habit. How long does it take to create a habit? Are some habits easier to form than others? Is it possible that working to create a habit can actually result in quite a bit of self-judgment? Phew, habits may be more complex than the two initially imagined!  ACTion Question/Event of the Week: Over the next week, take a few minutes to observe yourself. Make a list of your habits (regardless of whether you label them as good, bad, or somewhere in-between). Just write them down!   On our next episode of ACT to Live, we’ll dive into the innate human tendency of chasing perfection. So Come On, Let’s Take a Walk
