In Episode 4 of Syndromic Insights, hosts Dr. Alicia Chang and Dr. Linny Phuong look at how syndromic testing and surveillance can be used in anticipating future health threats. They are joined by Professor Nicolette Duplessis from the University of Pretoria and Dr. Kevin Messacar from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to discuss lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, the application and limitations of syndromic testing in both developed and resource-constrained environments, and how these clinicians respond to red flags from global health authorities. Our guests and Dr Chang also discuss the importance of global collaboration and communication in combating future health threats, and the crucial need to encourage participation and interest in the infectious diseases field. Syndromic Insights is brought to you by the World Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases.  The World Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (WSPID) is a non-profit organization and a confederation of national and international Pediatric Infectious Diseases (PID) societies.
