Abraham and the Fire

This account of Abraham encountering God is known as a theophany — where God manifests himself in a dramatic, physical expression. Every place where God manifests himself in some dramatic, physical way in the Old Testament points to the ultimate expression of God manifesting in a physical way in Jesus Christ. This sermon will look at this account of Abraham encountering God under three headings: 1) The questions and doubts of Abraham; 2) The answers and assurances of God; and 3) What this means for us.
