Episode 30: NCAA III National Record Holder Tim VanLiew

Welcome to the Through the Point Podcast, the world’s #1 (and only) javelin specific podcast This week I was fortunate enough to have on someone who as a former DIII thrower myself, I admired for his amazing performances That person is NCAA DIII record holder Tim VanLiew Tim threw 75.55m at a DIII school so we need to appreciate that for a second, completely insane haha Tim was also a soccer player in college who considered track his second sport. He threw a bit in high school but didn’t even plan to throw at his school of Rutgers Camden But as with many of my guests, the javelin somehow makes its way into their lives A crazy fact about Tim is that he said he only threw off a real runway TWICE while training in college My biggest take away from this was our discussion about the right “fit” for schools and not just focusing on the glamour.
