As part of our series on May's Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage and Mental Health Month, I have the privilege of introducing my very first interview guest, Aye Khaine, my better half. She's Burmese (or Myanmar) American, has a Master's in Social Work, and she takes us on a brief journey to understand Myanmar culture, working with refugees in the states, and explore aspects of the current military coup and tangible actions we are taking to help our friends in Myanmar. I hope by listening to Aye, we can reflect upon the immense diversity amongst Asian Americans, that one of the takeaways of the AAPI Heritage month is to learn that what we think of as Asian, is quite diverse and cannot be grouped together into a simplistic, unified group of people.
