Ep 10 - Flóki -the man who gave Iceland its name

Nordic Mythology Podcast - Un podcast de Daniel Farrand - Les jeudis

In this episode, Daniel and Mathias are talking about Flóki. According to legend, Flóki followed a raven to Iceland and built a settlement there. Unfortunately, his settlement failed, but he did end up being responsible for naming the country "Iceland." In HBO's show "Vikings," Flóki is an important character who is responsible for inventing Viking ships, and largely functions as Ragnar Lothbrok's right-hand man. As a trickster figure in Vikings, many aspects of Flóki's story are directly inspired by Old Norse myths about Loki. Also check us out on Instagram at: www.instagram.com/nordicmythologypodcastAnd if you like what we do, and would like to be in the audience for live streams of new episodes to ask questions please consider supporting us on Patreon:www.patreon.com/NordicMythologyPodcastIf you would like to join our bi-weekly Q&A Episodes in the new year, or get access to our special Story Time episodes covering the saga literature, then all you have to do is join our Patron.
