Mostly Weather: The Great Storm - Thirty years on

Met Office - Un podcast de Met Office

Met Office scientists take a lively look at the fascinating history and science of weather and climate research. The Great Storm of the 15th and 16th October 1987 is still one of the most talked about British weather events in living memory...but despite that fact, we look to talk about it just a little bit more in our landmark 20th episode. The regular podcast team are joined for this by Met Office meteorologist and seasoned weather presenter Alex Deakin, to take a look back at the Great Storm as we approach its 30th anniversary. We take a trip down memory lane as the team recall their memories of the storm and move on to look at other comparable storms from history, get some inside info on 'that' forecast and clear up once and for all whether or not it really was a hurricane. We also take a look at how forecasting severe weather has progressed in the last 30 years and what we do differently today. The Met Office is the United Kingdom's national weather service. The Met Office website carries the latest UK and global weather forecasts, detailed information on weather types and climate science and UK weather records for previous months, seasons and years. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/
