Steelers' Trades for Malik Reed/Jesse Davis Help, But Don't Complete 53-Man Roster / Need More Moves

Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Wes Uhler of Steeler Nation Radio. The Pittsburgh Steelers made moves to complete their 53-man roster Tuesday, including trades for Malik Reed, linebacker of the Denver Broncos and Jesse Davis, offensive tackle of the Minnesota Vikings. Both are needed depth pieces as Reed is a good backup for T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith while Davis can help beef up the offensive line. But more moves are needed to address the roster's weaknesses and that means signings for players like Alex Leatherwood and trades for key players could be on the move. A breakdown of the 53-man roster explores decisions to cut Anthony McFarland while keeping Benny Snell, Derek Watt, and Jaylen Warren; Mark Robinson beat out Buddy Johnson and Marcus Allen at linebacker; and the Steelers kept seven wide receivers with Miles Boykin, Gunner Olszewski and Steven Sims all on the roster while only nine offensive linemen are on the roster.
