In this English lesson, I give a quick biography on Edgar Allan Poe and then I read an adaptation of his short story, "The Tell Tale Heart" in slow, clear, easy to understand English.    Poe was born in Boston in 1809, and he died in 1849. Some people say Poe "drank himself to death," and I explain that phrase in the lesson. I also explain the term, adaptation, because this is an adaptation of Poe's original "Tell Tale Heart."   "The Tale Heart" is about a man who gets nervous about an old man's eye, and he does something so he'll never have to look at that eye again.   🔷  Follow me on Instagram for mini-mini lessons: https://www.instagram.com/americanenglishwiththisguy/  🇺🇸  🇬🇧  Follow this link for bonus credits from Italki for online English lessons after your first purchase: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1355613&u=2346050&m=70611&urllink=&afftrack=  🔷  Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/americanenglishwiththisguy 0:00-5:14 Edgar Allan Poe's Biography 5:15-14:48 "The Tell Tale Heart" Reading in Slow English --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/usbrent/support
