In this episode of JINS Podcast, I am very happy to have one of the most inspirational human beings I have encountered lately, another female imam who fights for womenâs rights and LGBTQIA+ rights in Islam, her name is Seyran AteĆ.đżÂ Seyran was born in Istanbul, Turkey, of a Turkish mother and a Kurdish father. She moved to West Berlin at the age of 6 with her traditionalist family. She left home when she was 17 years old to avoid an arranged marriage and she fled with her German boyfriend. She then became a lawyer and started fighting for womenâs rights ; she basically devoted herself her whole life to helping Turkish-background women achieve their rights in Germany. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in 2005.đ§đ»ââïžShe opened the Ibn Ruschd-Goethe mosque in 2017, located in a church, leading the way as a woman imam. It is the only liberal mosque in Germany today. Obviously, she has received death threats and survived an attack. Yet, she keeps on fighting for Muslim womenâs rights & Muslim LGBTQIA+ rights, relentlessly.đ§ Be it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts or else, you can listen to JINS Podcast anytime. Donât forget to follow @jins_podcast on Instagram and to leave your comments!đ Season 2 produced by Kikina Studio HĂ©bergĂ© par Acast.
