Is your internet business stable enough to weather Amazongeddon or a similar event? If not, you must watch this video. If you aren't sure what Amazongeddon is, that is a phrase FBA (Fulfilled By Amazon) sellers and Amazon affiliates are calling the recent changes to the cost and payout structure that Amazon just rolled out. Affiliates used to make a flat 8.5% commission per sale on every product when they reached a certain level of sales volume each month. This now has a sliding scale of affiliate commission that is based on product categories and can be as low as 1%. On the flip side, the costs associated with selling items as an FBA seller have gone up. Amazon is squeaking out a few percentage points more in profit at the expense of individuals who have built their businesses on the backs of Amazon. Now is this wrong of Amazon? Of course not. Is this 'fair'? Of course it is, this is business! Here is the thing... People like my wife and I who sell a handfull of products on Amazon and promote a few products as affiliates will not notice these changes in our bottom line next month, because we have dozens of additional revenue streams. Someone who built their entire business on Amazon affiliate websites may literally see their income drop by 50% - 80% by this! And, in my career of internet marketing, this is definitely not the first time I've seen this kind of drastic shift from a major player. My first income was direct linking users from Myspace to affiliate links... That dried up completely with one change in their TOS. I lived through the 'cheap Adwords' days of Google when clicks were 5 and 10 cents that are now several dollars. I've survived the organic SEO gold rush that imploded with the Panda update of 2011 and the Penguin update and Hummingbird updates plus the zillion others... I watched the "Google Slap" take down entire businesses, cut family income down to nothing and watched too many 'baller' internet marketers get knocked off their gilded thrones in those days. I rode the organic Facebook wave to nearly 1 million fans before that flipped to a 'pay to play' system and now I'm squeezing every ounce I can out of their ads system before it follows the exact same trend Google's Adwords system did. I'm now pushing on Pinterest organic and continuing to be on the lookout for the next big platform to jump on and test through while keeping all of the other plates spinning. I've seen people build fragile businesses built on one platform, one traffic source, and one product. History shows time and time again, that these businesses die eventually. A great example of this is how some people are growing 'lifestyle brands' on Instagram and that is their only 'business'... May work for a while, but as soon as Facebook is ready to monetize IG more, the reach will slip organically and everyone will have to pay to play there, too! You need to build a stable business with a foundation from multiple traffic sources and multiple revenue sources! Ultimately I want to see you have multiple streams of income that are all totally stable! That is what this video is all about... If you want to know specifically what to do, check out my 3 pillars video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-ZhK00OkBE I don't like to dwell on stuff like this, but I did want to be sure I communicated this clearly... Because we are living through a very prosperous time during an extended bull market... And this can't last forever. There will be a pull back and a correction in the market, and it may hurt... There will be changes from TOS of major traffic sources and income sources... And it may hurt! The truth is, the more stable of a base you have built, the easier you will weather the impending storm. And, after every bear market comes another bull market... Just like after every dark night... The sun surely rises. You just have to have yourself setup to be able to survive the night to get to the next dawn. This is why I find it so important for you to have an emergency fund, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuFaGUV2q-I
