Do you ever do something only to later find yourself replaying it in your head wishing you had made a better decision. Whether it's as simple as deciding to hit snooze or where to invest your money our decisions can have lasting impacts on our life, even the seemingly inconsequential ones, because they form our habits. So if you want to start making bettter decisions this episode is for you! Today's tips: Take your time- it's okay to sleep on a decision, even small ones. I force myself to wait 24-48 hours before buying something to help me break the habit of impulse buying Weigh the opportunity cost- the opportunity cost of your decision is the loss of other alternatives when one is chosen. For example what else could you spend $100 on or do with an hour of your time? Look at it from different perspectives- imagine how each of your options will make you feel in the future, what the potential consequenses might be, etc. Regulate your emotions- so many of our decisions, especially the decisions we tend to regret later, are made from a very emotional state so learning to regulate your emotions can help you get back to logic and make better choises Make sure decisions align with your goals, intentions, values and priorities- whatever they might be, make sure that your decisions align with what you want for yourself and your life Trust your gut- our gut is usually right but a lot of time we start overthinking, or getting emotional and we override that gut instinct, these tips are designed to help you get back to that internal compass There are many decisions in my life I look back and cringe at. So much money wasted on impulse buys I didn't need, so many nights of good sleep and productive days given up because I had fomo or felt peer pressured, so much time wasted not making progress becuase I decided to procrastinate. However, instead of dwelling on all of the decisions I should have made differently I wanted to take that experience and today's tips to make better decisions every day.
