America & the War for Greek Independence

During 400 years of Ottoman Occupation, the Greeks were dismissed and ignored by Europe and later America. When the Greeks liberated Kalamata, and issued their proclamation of liberty in March 1821, young men from all over the world answered the call. This episode is about America's obsession with the Greek cause, and some of the men who fought for her and are still remembered as heroes of Greek Independence.
