We talk about the importance of mentors and leaders that inspire you and hold you accountable to your dreams. Ricky was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in poverty, lived in a single bedroom apartment with no beds or furniture. He got to choose from an air mattress or slept on towels and blankets. He moved to Florence, SC when I was 5 years old and from there his parents opened up a nail salon. At a young age he was always a salesman and finding every solution to make money because he thought it was fun and knew if he made more he could spend more. By the age 14 he had an energy drink business. That is when he first knew that he wanted to be his own boss and that school wasn’t meant for him, so he had to find another path in this world that he could make it by working for himself. At 16 he started his own shoe business and was making close to 6 figures a year. By the time he was 18 his dad was traveling, so he needed to gradually take control of and ran the nail salon business New York Nails & Spa. Even doing all the things that he was able to do he was not a great student and got mostly D’s and F’s in school and never came close to making the Honor Roll like his friends did, as a result his friends parents looked at him as and loser/failure. he was picked on most of his life for having a disability called Tourette’s. After finding out, He used the diagnosis as motivation and drive to start his podcast. Ricky wants to motivate and help others find themselves and give them tips for their business.
