19. Matt Korda from FAS and SIPRI on the number of nukes in the world, and what we know

In this interview, we sit down with Matt Korda to discuss the ins and outs of his fascinating work on global nuclear arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament. We had the pleasure of learning more about the most recent research reports and how this data is collected within an industry that is purposefully non-transparent. Matt Korda shares with us what he wishes was more commonplace knowledge outside of his field and which aspects of his work make him hopeful for the future of nuclear arms control and disarmament. Matt Korda is an Associate Researcher with the SIPRI Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme as well as Senior Research Associate and Project Manager with the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists (FAS). He co-authors the Nuclear Notebook with Hans Kristensen and has contributed chapters on world nuclear forces to the SIPRI Yearbook. Previously, he worked for the Arms Control, Disarmament, and WMD Non-Proliferation Centre at NATO HQ in Brussels.
