Many people I encounter express that their childhoods were positive, yet they continue to experience trauma. There are a couple of reasons why this might occur. Firstly, some people may have difficulty recognizing the presence of their own trauma. It can be challenging to acknowledge and process the painful experiences from our pasts. Secondly, individuals might not have been aware that they experienced a significant separation from their parent(s) during their formative years. Alternatively, they may have inherited trauma from their parents and grandparents, which can deeply impact their well-being. Recognizing the origin of our trauma can be immensely beneficial in addressing and healing chronic emotional dysregulation. It is important to remember that you might be carrying the weight of something that was never meant to be yours to bear in the first place.
