But some are hopeful the tide is turning. This scorching year is ending with a new deal calling for a "transition away" from fossil fuels. President Biden’s climate envoy, John Kerry, hailed the agreement as “the most important decision” since the landmark 2015 Paris agreement, which he had negotiated for the United States.
