The life and death of Zawahiri

Amanpour - Un podcast de CNN

New details are emerging about the U.S. attack that killed Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. According to a senior administration official, the drone strike took President Biden and his inner circle months to secretly plan, with staffers building a small scale model of Zawahiri’s Kabul safehouse to help the president decide when to give the order. One of the masterminds behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Zawahiri emerged from the Egyptian middle class to become one of America’s most wanted terrorists. CNN International Correspondent Michael Holmes provides details and context. Following his report: an interview with retired Admiral William McRaven, who oversaw and organized the operation that killed Osama Bin Laden in 2011.  Also on today's show: US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink; former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers.
