Welcome to another episode of Action & Ambition with your host, Andrew Medal. Chris Lane is the CMO of Airfield Supply Co., the largest single-site dispensary in the country. Founded as the South Bay Healing Center in 2010, it was originally a medical dispensary in serving patients. Placed near the San Jose Airport, the dispensary was renamed and rebranded Airfield Supply Co. in 2015, celebrating and evoking the look and feel of the glamorous days of air travel, when we dressed up for it. Pre-pandemic, Airfield saw 1,500 individual customers a day in its dispensary, 300 of whom had never been there before. While deemed “essential” by the state of California, dispensaries had to dramatically limit the number of customers visiting their physical storefronts beginning March 16, 2020. Airfield immediately ramped up its delivery efforts. It added four Teslas to its fleet of all-electric vehicles. Chris Lane calls this “Cannabis’ Amazon moment.” Previous to coming to Airfield, Chris was Fiverr’s Global Head of Brand and Vice President of Integrated Marketing at Method Communications, among other highlights. He spent his formative career years at Edelman on the Adobe team. You’re going to love this episode. Let’s get to it and hear about the opportunity in the Cannabis space!
