The government’s flagship digital taxation policy is just days away from going live, but there are still many questions left unanswered. These range from the technical to the technological, and cover issues as diverse as workflows, digital records and unwilling clients. On 26 March, AccountingWEB and Sage assembled a panel of experts to answer audience questions on the Making Tax Digital for VAT regime as part of a webcast and podcast. Hosted by editor of the site Tom Herbert, the panel also featured Verna Gellvear from HMRC, Alison Parsons from Albert Goodman and Chris Downing from Sage. The panel answered a selection of questions from the Any Answers forum before moving on to tackle live audience questions. These included queries on the best routes for clients looking to file themselves, reporting daily sales, dealing with Amazon and eBay clients and MTD, reference formats, and how partial VAT should be accounted for.
