BONUS: More Does Not Equal More When it Comes to Publishing

Do you ever feel like you have too many projects or publications in play at once? Too many things in the works, and then ultimately nothing actually gets published? Most academics believe that to publish more things, they have to publish everything. In this Bonus Episode, I talk all about a huge misconception in academic publishing: that more equals more. I’m here to show you a new way of being when it comes to publishing, and how less is actually more in the long run. When we take a ‘just publish anything and everything’ mentality, we really lose cohesion. When you have your academic mission statement, and everything is in line with that, then your publication pipeline flows much more freely. Publishing off-mission articles, and things that aren't in line with your academic mission are actually going to stop your on-mission articles from coming out. Knowing what is worth your time and focusing on those things really does equal more in your academic career.
