My first post-HOFAS theory -Mel Nessian stuff: Now, as for Nessian. They didn't speak to each other in HOFAS or the Bonus Chapter. Neither were wearing wedding bands, so their mating ceremony didn't happen. Cassian did not defend her against Rhys roaring and screaming in her face. Cassian did not shield her from the cold on their flight. Cassian didn't defend her a second scene in a row from Rhys's onslaught... but a stranger did.
