In December 2018, I gave my wife an empty box for Christmas. No, it wasn’t a “gag gift.” It was literally just an empty box. I remember the look on Lucy’s face when I gave it to her… I could tell she was kind of confused (which is totally fair). So I said to her… “Every day, at 5:30 PM, I’m going to put my phone in this box. I’m going to unplug myself from my business. And I’m going to spend the evening completely focused on you and the kids.” That was my promise to her. And it was one of her favorite Christmas gifts ever. But halfway through 2019, things changed. A thought crossed my mind… The same thought we all have when life is crazy-busy and stressful. I thought, “I wish there were more hours in the day. I wish I could get more done in less time.” If I could have figured out a way to accomplish 3X more per hour, I would have had PLENTY of time to spend with Lucy and the kids every day. If I could have TRIPLED my work output… ...then I could have put my phone in the box at 4:00 PM if I’d wanted. That would have been awesome.
