The Myth Of Canadian Healthcare

1Dime Radio - Un podcast de Tony of 1Dime - Les vendredis

In this episode of the 1Dime Radio podcast, I am joined by Kieran Fong, a Canadian documentary filmmaker from Edmonton, Canada whose films focus on controversial social issues.  In January, he released his documentary short "Hippocrates: A Guide to Treating Healthcare Workers" on YouTube, which explored the privatization of Canadian healthcare: https://youtu.be/ix7qCwiadoE By releasing his film, he hopes to expose the corruption of conservative government's healthcare management while also highlighting solutions to improve healthcare systems around the world.  Canada's Healthcare system is often touted by American leftists and liberals as the mode to aspire to. Bernie Sanders frequently cited Canada's "Medicare for all" system as the model that America should seek to follow. But a closer examination of the reality reveals something different. Canada's healthcare system has been gradually privatized and cut ever since the rise of neoliberalism and the quality the system provides has significantly diminished.  Watch Kieran Fong's short minidocumentary to learn more about the bleak realities of Canadian Healthcare and the lessons leftists around the world can learn form it. In this podcast, talk about how Canada got healthcare in the first place with Tommy Douglass and the Canadian socialist movement, and then how Canada has gradually lost it's healthcare pillages. We also discuss how to improve healthcare systems and how to use what is happening to bring people to the left.  Check out Kieran Fong's Chanel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCss9QzRe66XXTeRuOGdpLOA Support 1Dime on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/OneDime   Be sure to give the podcast a 5 Star Rating on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts!
