Merry Christmas, Charles the Great!

On Christmas Day, 800 B.C., Charles I, King of the Franks, was crowned Holy Roman Emperor and thus became “Charles the Great”, or  “Carolus Magnus” and thus “Charlemagne: the father of the Carolingian Renaissance.”
